Sedation Dentistry Quakertown, PA

If you have had a negative past experience at the dentist or general anxiety about visiting the dentist, we’re here to help. We understand that some patients may have difficulty visiting the dentist. Our office is a non-judgmental space where patients can feel comfortable receiving dental care.

Dental sedation can greatly help anxious or fearful patients and allows them to get the dental care they may have put off in the past. Sedation is a part of preventative dental care because it can help address current dental problems and, for many patients, prevent the development of future dental problems. Dr. Kelly Halle-Brown provides sedation dentistry services in Quakertown, PA.

Who Benefits from Dental Sedation?

Sedation provides many benefits to patients. Dental sedation provides:

  • Efficient treatment
  • Comfortable care
  • Painless dental treatment

Dental sedation can benefit patients with:

  • Dental anxiety
  • Lengthy treatment
  • A fear of loud noises
  • Special needs
  • A fear of dental tools

We often recommend dental sedation for lengthy procedures, including wisdom teeth extractions. However, some patients can also benefit from sedation for more routine treatment. Sedation options like nitrous oxide are also safe for children because it is a mild sedative we can easily control.

Common Types of Sedation Dentistry in Quakertown, PA

Dental sedation is a valuable tool in our office to help patients receive comfortable and relaxing dental care. Standard methods of sedation can include nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation.

Also known as laughing gas, we use nitrous oxide with oxygen as an anesthetic. We deliver nitrous oxide through a mask that covers the nose. Nitrous oxide helps provide painless care and takes effect after about five minutes. Under nitrous oxide, patients feel relaxed and sleepy. Some patients may even feel happy or giggly.

Patients take oral conscious sedation as a pill about an hour before treatment. Because it takes time for oral conscious sedation to take effect and wear off, we will recommend that patients receive transportation to and from their appointment. Oral conscious sedation can last two to eight hours. As its name suggests, patients under oral conscious sedation may remain conscious but will not feel any pain.
